Customer Reviews

Great camera! Full disclosure I just got this today, I usually like to wait at least a few days before writing a review, but with kinda thing usually if it works it works, so I think it's safe to say that I've seen already all it can do. And I am indeed impressed.I got it refurbished for only $20, it works great, hooked it up easily, it had a paper with the link for the drivers and software downloads, that went smoothly (I use it on my Windows 10 home computer) and the picture quality is impressive, both for photos and videos. I guess I was rather easy to impress, cause it replaced a really old, really cheap, really simple, Logitech webcam. I must of had that thing for at least 5 or 6 years, so the picture quality on that was really really simple, to put it nicely. So this one is a big upgrade for me, these videos look like they could of been recorded in a regular type camera.I like that you can rotate the camera all the way around, 360 . But the mounting leaves a little to be desired, it could of been better. I can't really get it in a stable position, but it's simple enough to get pointed right I guess. So it's not enough of an issue to deduct a start for. 5Small, cheap, and compact... just like the video I purchased this Webcam for my desktop computer, and overall I should have spent a little more. I am in the military and got this so I could continue my gaming sessions with my shipmates after I transferred, but the video quality is lacking. It is nice and compact, and the microphone on it does do it justice, but I think the lens is a little too small to really give HD quality video. It does come with Logitech's webcam software which does a pretty good job at adjusting zoom and light levels, but it shines in a well lit room without a lot of movement on your part. It does clip onto the top of your LCD/LED monitor with a swivel head to allow for frame adjustment, which clears some of that clutter from your desk space.Overall in retrospect this is a good, affordable webcam that has a great software suite included from a reliable company, but if you are looking for crisp high quality HD video for high quality streams, spend a little more and bump yourself up into the next tier from logitech. 3Not bad for the price. Some focusing issues. Overall a good webcam. In low light the webcam can have some focusing issues and even sometimes in very well light areas too. I tend to have to use the software to manually focus the webcam. Other than that the webcam works great. Whether it's Skype or Facebook video the webcam handles it fine. Not the sharpest but better than some I've used and for the price it is acceptable. I have even used it for an interview over the web.The way it hangs onto the monitor is nice because it is adjustable so I can have it higher or lower in a matter of seconds. Also the easy swiveling is really neat and I found it very useful. I didn't take many photos with the camera so I can't comment on that, but otherwise it worked great. Would recommend but will probably buy a higher end unit next time personally. 4Great Webcam for budget conscious streamers! First time webcam user here,After watching countless twitch streams / Facebook streams I've come to know what makes a good camera in terms of streaming and general use.It captures images at 720p 30fps, and that is more than enough for streaming. The clarity of the image is superb for the price, and i'd recommend this for the budget conscious streamer. I can't attest to the microphone quality as I use a modmic 4.0 instead of the built in microphone on the camera. Since most streamers will use some sort of dedicated microphone setup.Highly recommend this webcam! 5Great webcam! Guy story: great webcam, just get it!Girl story: Recently my old computer hard drive died. After getting a new hard drive installed, my old webcam stopped working. Looking for solutions, I came across a question and answer on a Microsoft support site. The "solution" from the Microsoft rep was that, basically, such-and-such model (exactly the one I had) is old and no longer compatible with Windows 10, so the best way to solve this problem is to just get a new webcam for Windows 10. I headed to Amazon and looked at a bunch of different webcams before settling on this one.My "wishlist" of features was:- compatible with Windows 10- small, not bulky, esthetically pleasing to look at (since it's going to be sitting on top of my desktop monitor all the time)- reasonably priced- good quality, not "cheap"- basic enough to use for Skype video calls (nothing fancy-shmancy, but not too basic)- nice HD video resolution (720p would be just fine, didn't need 1080p)- easy to use (didn't need any fancy software, controls, or add-ons)The Logitech HD Webcam C525 is EXACTLY all that! I have to say, I was VERY pleasantly surprised and impressed with this camera. It is much smaller than I imagined, so it's very neat-looking and unobtrusive on top of my monitor. The video output is wide-screen and very sharp. But what impressed me most was this... Being "old school", I was looking in the package for a driver insallation CD or some instructions on where to download the necessary drivers and how to install the camera... but there was none! I finally realized that the small insert sheet that I kept disregarding was "it". There were two pictures on the sheet, which were the only "instructions" (no text). They could be translated into words like this:1) Attach the camera on top of your monitor and adjust it according to your liking.2) Plug the other end into a USB port on your computer. That's it! :-)After I plugged it in, the webcam was instantly "found" by the computer, "installed itself", and was instantly shown in Skype as the default webcam to use for video calls. Perfect! 5~~Great quality for price/performance, mic isn't the greatest, overall awesome product~~ I started streaming on twitch and decided to buy a webcam to show my face and interact with viewers. This was a great purchase for me because not only do I use it for streaming, I've also used it for a job interview and Skype with friends. The video quality was surprisingly better than I thought it would be. I was expecting a less vibrant and more pixelated video images, but the video quality was very good. It's not as good as the newer models like the c910, but it'll do the job just fine. It has it's own control center that you can adjust your settings for. This camera has settings that can follow your face, zoom in, move around, and even brighten or darken your surroundings. The orange strip of line you see by the lens in the stock photo lights up red when you're recording so you will know when you're live. The way that the webcam is designed, it has a little bumper on the underside that helps it grip onto the top of your monitor. So when placing it on top of a flat surface, it doesn't sit well and will shake a lot if you move. This webcam also comes with its own microphone, but to be honest, you shouldn't use it because the quality is terrible. It picks up so much noise and it's always has that white static sound in the background. If you don't use a microphone frequently or don't have the money to purchase one, then the one that comes with the camera will do the job just fine. If you're playing online games with friends, then I would recommend not using it. 45 Star Webcam, Mac Software is Limited as Usual I haven't used this beyond a day and I normally wait awhile to write a review but I wanted to get this up here now since there seems to be some confusion about this working with Mac Computers. This camera works without the driver automatically within the apps of Skype and Facetime if you select the C525 cam and mic in the Preferences of those programs. But what you really want to do is go online and download a driver since with it the quality isn't that good as most of that is managed by the driver. Even though the C525 doesn't have a driver download on it's product page, the drivers for Logitech's webcams are interchangeable so you can go to [...] then click on Webcams, then click on the model HD Webcam C615, select your Mac OS operating system and download the driver.Once it downloads you just double click it open, install, and double click the App Logitech Icon and you will see the light come on the camera. You can record from the software that will display once this app is open then import it into iMovie and edit as usual. Unfortunately you can't select this camera for recording directly with iMovie but I don't mind the extra step. I believe if you were using this camera with a PC you would have a lot more options to use within the logitech software such as uploading directly to YouTube and other recording adjustments so I hope that logitech will be updating the Mac software soon but with the limits to Mac options at this price point this camera is worth it. If your computer screen is on while shooting then you will definitely be lit enough for things like Skype and Facetime but if you are shooting something for YouTube and you want a more natural light I dim the computer screen down half way to get rid of the blue cast on the wall behind me and use a few daylight lamps and it turns out great. With the options out now I love this new camera since...- It is definitely a better quality pic at 720dpi- Doesn't lag- Voice and picture sync well- Fold's up nicely to travel in my bag- Sound is great for a Webcam Mic and I think a bit better than the Macbook Pro Mich- You can choose which Mic to use as you record with the Logitech recording software so if I want to use a different Mic I can- Best inexpensive Webcam out there in my opinion for Mac users right nowHope this review clears things up and helps people get their cameras working with Macs :) 5quick review all good ! I'm going to write a review even after only having this camera about 1 hour ! My past experiences with electronics and gadgets is immense. This camera is great, It connected to my WIN 7 system immediately, the Logitech Software Download worked first time , no issues. For what I am seeking, this C525 for around $30 is exactly as advertised and expected. Very flexible camera mount along with about 6 feet of USB cable so the camera can be moved around if necessary. I purchased another brand and returned it the next day, after fighting with it to get connected, which it never did. For years Logitech has been the leader of the pc camera business and they still are. Zoom, auto focus , clear picture, reasonable audio...its all good ! Plus it actually works without fighting the installation. I literally was making test video's 10 min after opening the box. Win 7 mind you ! 5User-Friendly, High-Quality Webcam for Reasonable Price Webcams sure have come a long way since I last had to buy one. Before now all but one computer has had a built-in webcam in the monitor. The only one that didn t was over 10 years ago. So this is the first time I ve purchased an external webcam in over 10 years. Before purchasing this one, I looked at several comparable brands online and compared the different versions of webcams by this company side by side. It seemed that based on reviews and specs this was the best webcam for the price. I have to say I am very pleased with the results so far.Pros:1. At 44 dollars and change, this is an incredibly affordable webcam.2. The camera is very easy to install and to mount onto the monitor. All I did was clip it to the monitor and plug it into the USB port and it was up and running.3. I love that it rotates easily, is small and compact, and is easily clipped and unclipped from the computer monitor.4. The picture and video quality is pretty comparable to most. I have used this flawlessly on Skype, Yahoo!, and Facebook video chat with no problems.Cons:1. The software that came with the webcam was a little less exciting than the ones I ve used in the past with my webcams that were built-in to the monitors. There are no fancy features that you can use to spruce up the picture, such as adding in costumes or animations. But for the price I really can t complain.2. The only real issue I ve had with this camera is that it turns itself off on occasion if I have left the computer on for a while. I have to actually reboot the entire computer to get it to turn back on again. I am not sure if this is a computer issue or a webcam issue. All in all, I would definitely recommend this webcam to a friend, and would buy again.Logitech HD Webcam C525, Portable HD 720p Video Calling with Autofocus 5Shoot yourself!
