Great Antenna Great antenna, i pick up VHF radio broadcast from the coast guard 20 miles away on the great lakes. looks great, seems to be strong and durable combined with the stainless steel ratcheting mount i believe it will last a long time. 5They are good antennas. This antenna replaced my original Galaxy.I use mine tuna fishing & need a long range antenna. They are good antennas. 5Sturdy, nice finish Sturdy, nice finish, easy to install & easy to connect to my VHF radio when you use Shakespeare soderless PL259 connector. That specific connector is not included. 5Best Bang for the Buck. This is the best 8' antenna for the money. It will give you ranges over 12 miles and farther for shore based stations. This is particularly handy for AIS. You can get a better antenna for 2.5-3 times the cost--the primary difference being durability. This antenna is the minimum quality I'd recommend for a powerboat--not suitable for a sailboat that heels over. For a sailboat get a 3db wire antenna.Lower priced antennas are very poorly made. Do not buy any cheaper antenna unless you have a space constraint. The cheaper Shakespeare antenna are junk, with the exception of the 3db base loaded wire antennas. This one actually performs well in real world testing against other 8' antennas. To get better performance, you would need a 16' antenna.I like also that it has the marine threaded base that allows it to be mounted on a stainless steel ratchet mount (the plastic ones are not strong enough for this antenna). That allows you to tilt the antenna down for travel on a trailer, or higher speed.I'll report back on it's longevity. 5high quality antenna deserves an A + in my book. great upgrade for my boat. 6db provides the perfect gain for my boat. Do you homework, not all antennas are created equal and db gain is critical. This Shakespeare antenna is made very well with brass and copper elements. If you look around, you find another 8' Shakespeare antenna at less than half the price of this one. There's a reason for that and the reason is a big step up in quality components. A high quality antenna is needed on every boat. You never know if your life might depend upon someone hearing you in an emergency situation. 5Best antenna I could find. I mounted this unit with an aluminum bracket purchased separately. Install was very easy. Clear reception of CG at 45 miles offshore. 5Recommend for the forgetful. Left antenna up while transporting boat home, trimmed a couple of trees with it. This was exact replacement and installed easily. Hopefully I don't have to add this to most often ordered products! 5Great antenna for the money Comes with multiple connectors for installation. I have a short run on my boat, so did not need 20' of cable bunched up. Used solder on connector. Wish it came with the Shakespeare screw together connector. Overall nice functioning and looking antenna. 5Good deal, shipped quick and well packed.... Received quickly and well packaged by Prime Marine Tackle. Good price and an excellent product. 5Great product. This was a replacement for an older ... Great product. This was a replacement for an older and shorter Shakespeare antenna. Good clear reception and transmission. If you are installing it yourself, you'll need a soldering station to make sure the electrical connections are solid. It will require you have some basic skills for this. 5
